The modernisation of housing arrives in Milan with the FITT-NESS project

AMUEBLA took part in the third transnational meeting of the European FITT-NESS project consortium. The initiative is continuing to follow its roadmap to transform the furniture and home furnishings sector, equipping SMEs with the tools needed to lead the ‘dual transition’ – digital and green – and facilitating the creation of solutions for smart homes and environments that prioritise inclusion and accessibility for older people.

Against this backdrop, the consortium partners recently met in Milan to coordinate progress on the various work packages and lay the groundwork for the future phases of exploiting the results.

The FederlegnoArredo (FLA) headquarters hosted the technical working sessions, which focused on the project’s quality audit and risk management. During the meeting, the results of the sector’s needs assessment were analysed in depth, a crucial preliminary step in the development of the S3 roadmaps.

AMUEBLA and the other partners coordinated the upcoming professional training initiatives, designed to enable companies in the home furnishings sector to successfully integrate advisory services and new technologies into their business models. The day concluded with an insight into the sector’s excellence through a visit to the Museum of Italian Design (Triennale di Milano).

On the second day of the meeting, the consortium visited the premises of OpenDot, a leading foundation in open innovation and digital manufacturing.

The project’s next stop will be in Yecla at the end of May, coinciding with the Furniture Fair. As part of this event, a new Twinning Action will take place – a business twinning initiative that will enable organisations from Spain, Portugal and Italy to forge strategic alliances, exchange best practices and gain first-hand insight into the potential of the furniture and home furnishings sector.
