On 23-24 January, Sofia (Bulgaria) hosted the first meeting of the European GREENIFY project, an ambitious initiative that aims to promote green careers among girls and young women, especially those from rural areas or from families whose parents do not have a university education. The project aims to prepare these young women for the future sustainable labour market, a sector that is constantly growing and crucial for the transition to a green economy.
The meeting was organised by the Bulgarian Consulting Organisation (BCO) and was attended by leading international partners, including AMUEBLA (Spain), Sistemi Formativi Confindustria (SFC) and Sant’Anna University Institute of Advanced Studies (Italy), and the consultancy AB (Belgium).
During the two days of work, the partners established the roadmap that will guide the development of the project in the coming months. Initial activities include the creation of specific training materials aimed at STEM teachers and vocational education and training (VET) trainers, with the aim of providing high quality learning opportunities that respond to the demands of the green labour market.
AMUEBLA, leader of Work Package 2, will play a key role in this initial phase. Its mission will be to coordinate surveys targeting girls, women, VET teachers and companies to identify educational needs in the STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and in sustainability management. This data will be essential to design training programmes aligned with green job opportunities for women.
GREENIFY aims not only to empower young women, but also to strengthen the capacity of educators and trainers to prepare future generations for the challenges and opportunities of a green economy. This project marks an important step towards a more inclusive and sustainable transition.
With this inaugural meeting, the partners have laid the foundations for GREENIFY to become a reference in the promotion of gender equality in the field of green careers and in the training of professionals who will lead the sustainable transformation in Europe.
